Southport Church of Christ Safe Church Policy
Southport Church of Christ (SCC) is committed to providing a church environment for children, young people and adults that is physically, emotionally and spiritually safe.
We are particularly committed to ensuring the safety and wellbeing of those in positions of vulnerability, and endeavour to provide a safe environment through our policies and procedures.
The following values reflect the culture we are committed to promoting within our church: loving, gracious, generous, authentic, and caring.
Commitment to Child Safety
SCC is committed to child safety. All children and young people at SCC have the right to feel and be safe. We support and respect all children, as well as our staff and volunteers.
The Gold Coast is a multi-cultural community, and we are committed to providing a safe and inclusive environment for all children from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds. We are also committed to providing a safe environment for children with a disability to ensure they can participate equally.
We recognise that domestic violence is the biggest social issue on the Gold Coast, and as such we have zero tolerance for child abuse. All allegations and safety concerns will be treated seriously and consistently in line with our policies and procedures. We are committed to preventing abuse of children and young people by identifying risks early, and removing and reducing these risks.
We have specific policies, procedures and training in place that support our leadership team, staff and volunteers to achieve these commitments.
