Southport Church of Christ

Welcome to SCC!

Southport Church of Christ is a place where you can explore faith, build meaningful connections and find hope in whatever you are walking through. Whether you are new to church, exploring faith, returning after some time away, or looking for a place to call home, you are welcome here.

We know that it may feel intimidating to visit a new church for the first time, but we’re here to make sure you feel welcome walking through the doors. Here’s some info about what to expect on a Sunday at SCC.

Services

Southport Church of Christ meets every Sunday, offering worship services at 9AM and 5PM.

Location

We are located at 1 Griffith Way, Southport. Parking is available on site.

What to expect

What is a church service like?

Our Sunday services are approximately 75 minutes long.

When arriving at Southport Church of Christ, our team will greet you at the door to make sure you feel welcome. They can answer any questions you may have, or direct you to our information desk in the foyer.

Services begin with our worship leader and band leading the church in a mix of contemporary and traditional worship songs to give you time and space to worship as you feel comfortable. Lyrics are projected onto screens on either side of the auditorium so that you can participate, or just observe if you feel more comfortable.

Each week, part of our worship time is allocated to communion. A reflective thought on communion is led from the platform, with some time for personal prayer. Communion is available to all, but participation is not required.

One of our pastors will then share an encouraging message as we teach through various aspects of the Bible. There is often an opportunity to respond or take some kind of action if you wish. The service concludes with a final song.

Following our 9am service, we provide a morning tea with something light to eat and drink. We invite you to stay and join us after the service as we connect as a community.

Following our 5pm service, we invite you to join us for supper. This changes week by week; it may look like gathering for a meal at one of our church families’ homes or a BYO food and board game night in our outdoor courtyard on site.

What should I wear?

Our Sunday services are casual and relaxed. People wear anything from jeans and t-shirts to business casual. Please come along in what you are most comfortable in.

What about my kids?

Something children love and look forward to on Sunday mornings is Kids Church. Southport Church of Christ offers a creche and kids program for children from age 1 to grade 6 age at our 9am service during the school term. We provide a safe and fun environment for kids to learn, play and build relationships through age-appropriate activities. Arrive a few minutes early to the service and make your way to our Alive Kids check-in desk in the foyer. If you have questions or would like more information regarding our kids program, please contact the church office at (07) 5564 6222 or scc@scc.org.au. Your children are free to join you in the auditorium for our service as well. We also have a parent’s room located next to the auditorium entrance offering a comfortable and quiet space with books and toys in which the service can still be observed. Please feel free to make use of this room at any point throughout the service.

Anything else?

For people that are new to SCC we have a ‘welcome lounge’ at the back of the auditorium that will allow you to meet some of our ministry team directly after the service. We also have a welcome pack for first timers. If you choose to give us your details at the welcome lounge after a service, we would love to follow up with you during the week to help you connect, or hear about your experience at SCC.

We would love to see you on a Sunday!
