Get involved at Southport Church of Christ by serving in one of our ministries. Whether you have a heart for people or you’re savvy with a camera, there is a place for you to use your God-given gifts to make a difference in our community.
See below for some more information on just some of our many ministries with opportunities to serve on Sundays as well as during the week. Want to serve in an area not listed below? Let us know!
Join the team that exists to help every person call SCC their home. The welcome team is the frontline of our Sunday celebrations. From serving morning tea and communion preparation, to welcoming with a smile at the door. This is a team that loves people.
The care team is all about caring for people as they walk through the range of life’s challenges. Through checking in with those struggling and meeting with newcomers, to cooking meals or doing laundry, the care team offer practical and emotional support to our community.
From sorting donations to assisting customers and processing transactions, these are the friendly faces our community sees when they visit our on-site op shop.
The Community team practically loves those that need it most in our neighbourhood through providing groceries, caring for the homeless and more.
Our kids team help to provide a safe, fun and creative environment where kids can grow on Sundays. They share the big story of the Bible through activities, stories and craft with the hope to see kids know the love of Jesus Christ.
Jesus tells us to go and make disciples of all nations. We live out this calling through our multicultural ministry by intentionally loving and serving the international members of our congregation as well as international students and immigrants.
While the pastors and worship team steer the ship from the stage, the production team is the engine room. Serving and supporting the ‘on stage’ team from behind the scenes is our jam. A passion for cameras, sound desks or computers is helpful but a servant heart trumps a great resume for this gig.
The creative team serves through skills in photography, videography, graphic design and social media. They’re all about capturing moments, telling stories and engaging our community with visual elements.
The worship team uses musical skills to lead the congregation in corporate worship. Their heart is to worship in Spirit and Truth, bringing our best to give God glory and draw eyes to our mighty Father.
Join the team that has a heart to see high school students be all God made them to be. Youth ministry is loud, fast paced and high energy. Youth leaders help out with our Friday night program and lead a year level mentor group.
The prayer team faithfully lays the foundation for everything that we do at SCC. There are a range of opportunities to serve from engaging in mid-week prayer team to praying with people after our Sunday services.
The young adults team help our 18-30s community connect with God and each other. They serve in multiple ways such as organising community events, university ministry, Red Frogs and more.
